“The Power of Emotional Intelligence”In the mid-1990’s we were in the middle of several consulting projects at Walter V. Clarke & Associates when Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence was published. The subject was near and dear to all us, for “EQ” was a bedrock among users of behavior assessments. Dr. Goleman was called in by Dr. Jed Hughes and several research projects ensued. Today, “EQ” remains one of our most important learning goals and here is some of the research to back it up:

A study of 130 executives found that how well people handled their own emotions determined how much people around them preferred to deal with them (Walter V. Clarke Associates, 1997).
